Justine Sacco Facing Criticism After ‘Hope I Don’t Get Aids’ Tweet

A top PR Exec Justine Sacco sparked outrage after she reportedly sent a racist tweet shortly before boarding a plane to Africa. Sacco was protected from the Internet on international flights , completely unaware that she is infamous by the time she landed and that her employer told the media that it takes appropriate measures.

Twitter account has since been deleted after having no activity for a number of hours, allegedly while she was on the flight. As day became night on the East Coast , the hashtag #HasJustineLandedYet soared Twitter trending topics list.



Latest posts from her Twitter suggest she travels. Earlier Friday, she tweeted that she was back in London of cucumber sandwiches and bad teeth. Responding to furour, the IOC took the items Mrs. Saca on its corporate website, but did not comment on her employment status.

IAC, owned by Barry Diller, said in a statement and slammed their employee’s behavior as ‘outrageous’, “This is an outrageous, offensive comment that does not reflect the views and values of IAC. Unfortunately, the employee in question is unreachable on an international flight, but this is a very serious matter and we are taking appropriate action.”

Many Twitter users have called the company to dismiss Ms. Saca following observations . Sacco landed in Africa on British Airways Flight and can only guess the number of angry responses she gets. According to the dosomething.org, 34 million people in the world who are living with HIV, 69 percent live in Africa south of the Sahara.



There are about 23.8 million people in Africa with AIDS. HIV greatly reduces the body's immune system making it easier for those infected carry deadly diseases. Many uses Twitter also drew attention to the ironic fact that Ms. Sakai works in public relations for an Internet company.
