Elizabeth Taylor was the epitome of style in her day, but Lindsay Lohan, the actress chosen to play her in biopic Liz & Dick couldn't quite replicate her elegance at the premiere. Her floor-length Donna Dashini gown had three cut-outs down the front with red beds dangling from each cut out.
The troubled 26-year-old starlet accessorized with Nanzo Muzi shoes and a fur stole. The gold-champagne coloured gown squeezes Lohan's frame, making the cut-outs bulge. "It feels great to be on a red carpet for working hard. It feels good," Lohan told the Associated Press before the dinner at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
"I wasn't going to let them make the movie without me, first of all," she joked. Her scarlet lips and bronzed glow matched her russet locks and despite her pout looking a little smeared towards the end of the night, it was a good look on the actress.
Liz & Dick has been billed by Lifetime as Lindsay's comeback movie role. But an early review of the movie last week encouraged readers to watch the forthcoming featurette for all the wrong reasons. "I harassed (executive producer) Larry Thompson.
But just because it's such an iconic story of love and defeat and loving it and Elizabeth Taylor was such an icon of mine and so many other people's that it was an important film to depict correctly." The Daily Mail labelled Lohan's attempts to channel Taylor as "a style car crash."
The Huffington Post called it "all sorts of no". The Hollywood Reporter critic Tim Goodman likened Lohan's performance 'half train wreck, half SNL skit' in his scathing recent review. She may be controversial, but Lindsay always knew how to work the red carpet.
Lindsay's Lifetime movie "Liz & Dick" premieres on Nov. 25 at 9 ET. Apparently, having Lohan star in the film was quite the headache for “Liz & Dick” executive producer Larry Thompson. "Producing a movie with Lindsay is not for the faint of heart," he said last week to reporters. "I turned 50 shades of white actually during the production."
