Former Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) chief Ng Boon Gay has announced through his lawyers that he will be claiming trial for all four charges of corruption he is facing in relation to the high profile sex-for-business case, AsiaOne.Com reported.
The 46-year-old Ng is accused of obtaining sexual favours from Cecilia Sue Siew Nang, a sales manager of two IT vendors. He is represented by Senior Counsel Tan Chee Meng and Ms Melanie Ho from WongPartnership. In a media statement on Thursday afternoon, the lawyers said they have yet to be provide with the requested information.
Senior Counsel Tan Chee Meng and Ms Melanie Ho said in a statement, "Since the last mention, we have been in discussions with the AGC (Attorney General's Chambers) on our request for further particulars. Unfortunately, we have not been provided with the information requested in relation to the charges."
Under Section 6 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, those found guilty of corruption can be jailed up to five years, and/or fined up to $100,000 for each charge.
Ng's wife said in a statement to the media that she has never doubted his professional integrity and will continue to stand by him. Yap Yen Yen, previously voiced her support for him in a statement and said she never doubted his professional integrity. The case will be mentioned on 16 August.
