Serena Williams of the United States beat Russian beauty Maria Sharapove in the final of women's singles tennis final. Poor Maria. This was like a one-sided game and it was an easy win by Serena Williams. Serena's winning score was 6-0 6-1 in 63 minutes.
There was also a sexy dance by the winner Serena at the end of the game. As the results, French Open champion Sharapova takes the silver medal and world number one Victoria Azarenka of Belarus bronze.
The Williams sisters won Olympic doubles Olympic gold in 2000 at the Games in Sydney and in 2008 at the Games in Beijing. Williams can add the gold medal to her 14 Grand Slam singles championships, the most of any active woman.
Serena Williams:
"It was probably flying to come hug me because the flag was so happy. I was so focused here. I remember I was serving and I was thinking: 'Serena, this is your best chance to win a gold medal. You're at Wimbledon, you're on grass, you play great on grass, pull it together, just win this.' And that's what I thought about."
Maria Sharapova:
"Serena played some incredible tennis, with the form she was in during Wimbledon and afterwards. With every match she has played she has played great, she has improved and become better, and that showed today."
Victoria Azarenka:
"It is just like everything came off my shoulders. It was an incredible match. I felt so nervous because it is not very usual for a tennis player once you lose to come back the next day and play, so it was incredibly hard but I am so glad I did it and it was worth it."
